The Outsiders is a story about a gang called the Greasers. They are a group of people from the west side of town. They don’t have very much money and don’t drive nice cars or have nice clothes like their rivals, the Socs. The Socs are a gang from the east side of town. They are rich, have nice clothes, and nice cars. Ponyboy--the main Greaser in the book--has two older brothers named Sodapop and Darry, but all members of the gang seem like brothers, including Two-Bit, Johnny, Dally, Steve, and more. In the book the Greasers and Socs get in a lot of fights. In one fight, Ponyboy and Johnny get jumped by the Socs, and Johnny does something that will change their lives forever.

I rate this book a 7 out of 10 because it is flowing meaning the author doesn’t stay on one event for a long time, but still describes what’s going on in a non-choppy way. The events in the book are interesting. They connect with the problems in the real word like getting beat up or not knowing what to do and doing right and wrong things. You really get to know the characters and you feel like you are there with the gang on their adventures.

This book is all about loyalty, brotherhood, making it through challenges together, and having each other’s back. People who enjoy violence, suspense, loss, friendship, adventure, cliffhangers, and books about real life events and problems this is the book for you.

Read The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton and go on all of the adventures with the Greasers and find out how the gangs solve their problems together. It might give you advice about real life problems.
